Volunteering at Simon Community Scotland
Make a difference in your local community
By volunteering, you can help make a positive difference in peoples' lives. Use your existing skills and knowledge to benefit your local community and make it a better place.
Volunteering provides many benefits to both mental and physical health. It connects you to others, is good for your mind and body, can advance your career and bring fun and fulfilment to your life. The benefits could be life-changing.
Volunteers are important to Simon Community Scotland and their contribution is valued. It’s our policy to offer out-of-pocket expenses incurred on our behalf.
Would you or anyone you know like to learn more about volunteering with StreetCycles at our new King Street base? We'd be delighted to have you visit and learn more about volunteering with this essential service.
email hello@simonscotland.org to arrange a visit.
Thank you!

What our volunteers say:
-
Having Fun
"I’ve had some of my happiest moments this year, cycling around Glasgow in the blazing sunshine (ok, sometimes pouring rain!). I can easily fit volunteering around my day job, picking up products and delivering to my Points when suits me…often 7pm on my way to dinner in town!
There are fun opportunities to develop the Period Friendly Project, e.g. with our Pants Drive, and engage with the other services within Simon Community."

Learning new things
"Thank you so much again for the Naloxone training. Like the Mini IMPACT training, you do it fantastically well and clearly have a brilliant understanding of everything covered (which was a lot!). The clear care for (and empathy with) those you support really shines through.
I’ve really been just so impressed with everyone I’ve met at Streetwork/Simon Community Scotland over the last few weeks and I am sure that will continue."

Giving something back
"I volunteer for Simon Community Scotland because, well, I’ve volunteered for three years now and it’s kind of giving a bit back. I take my volunteering seriously, I always turn up and I get as much out of it as I give. I feel it’s important.
I’ve had lived experience and it’s about making a difference – I know that sounds corny but it’s true, I benefit and everyone else benefits."
